What Are "Pitches For Peace"?
"Pitches For Peace" are 5-a-side soccer pitches built out of repurposed tyres and building rubble. #fromwastetowonder
Why Are These Pitches Important?
These pitches provide youth with a space to express themselves, stay fit, build their skills, and it keeps them off of the street! Along side the personal benefits, pitches for peace creates bonds between youth, fostering a spirit of togetherness, peace, love, & kindness.

This week we honour and pay tribute to Community Hero and #ultimatelovenaire, Aunty Avril Andrews of The Alcardo Andrews Foundation.
Avril Andrews founded the Alcardo Andrews Foundation in 2015 after the tragic loss of her son to gang violence in Hanover Park, Cape Town. Determined to honour his memory, Avril transformed her grief into a powerful movement for safety, nourishment and healing in her community.
Through her leadership, the Foundation now provides daily hot meals through its community kitchen, grows fresh produce via hydroponic gardens, and offers emotional and legal support for mothers seeking justice through Moms Move for Justice.
Avril also champions positive male role-modelling through a fatherhood programme and creates safe, empowering spaces for children and youth.
Avril is a courageous community leader who continues to build hope, unity and resilience in Hanover Park — proving that every act of change begins with love.

The Heart of Cape Town is a Uthando (Love) South Africa initiative.
We all feel what other people are going through whether we are conscious of it or not.
At a deep level we are all affected by the horrifying and unimaginable tragedy of war, violence and division.
At a distance it appears there is not much that each of can do, but in truth each and everyone of us can act as a “Lighthouse of Love, Kindness and Peace”.
This state of being comes from our HEARTS.
We are all one.
We are all Brothers and Sisters.
With all of our differences, arguments, disagreements and battles we have forgotten that we are all one life together.
The Heart of Cape Town Documentary
The Heart of Cape Town, an initiative led by Uthando (Love) South Africa, passionately champions a profound message of Peace, Kindness and Love worldwide, whilst illuminating the truly inspiring and innovative work of South African community development projects and activists.
