𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐞𝐬 – 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐞 - 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬

Starting this week, we are proud to launch our 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐞𝐬 series — a weekly tribute to the unsung champions who are inspiring change, showing compassion and strengthening the spirit of community in countless ways.

Every day there are incredible people quietly making a big difference. They are the ones who give their time, their passion and their hearts to uplift others — because they care.

This week we honour our first #CommunityHero #Lovenaire, Sibongile Day & Night Care Centre Founder, 𝐍𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐨 𝐗𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐚.

The Centre was founded in January 2005 by Nomasango Xabanisa after she recognized a desperate need for specialized care for children with cerebral palsy (CP) and other severe disabilities in her community of Khayelitsha. Motivated by the experience of raising her own daughter, Sibongile, who lived with CP.

Nomasango trained at the Red Cross Children’s Hospital and went on to officially register the centre as a non-profit organization in June 2005. She first welcomed children into her own home before expanding into donated shipping containers to accommodate the growing demand for care.

The centre is named in honour of her daughter, Sibongile, whose name means “thank you” in isiXhosa.

green-heart

We all feel what other people are going through whether we are conscious of it or not.

At a deep level we are all affected by the horrifying and unimaginable tragedy of war, violence and division.

At a distance it appears there is not much that each of can do, but in truth each and everyone of us can act as a “Lighthouse of Love, Kindness and Peace”.

This state of being comes from our HEARTS.

We are all one.

We are all Brothers and Sisters.

With all of our differences, arguments, disagreements and battles we have forgotten that we are all one life together.
